Ken Loach to judge films on NHS

Ken Loach

AWARD-winning director Ken Loach and Dr Who actor David Morrissey will judge a short film competition about the NHS.
University College London has organised the Reel Health Stories to improve its medical students’ understanding of patients’ fears about the health service.
Mr Loach, who lives in Parliament Hill, said: “I look forward to Reel Health Stories. It will come at a time when we are expecting big cuts in the NHS. I hope some of the films will not be afraid to tackle the big issues.”
Anyone can submit a five-minute film about anything health-related – such as a visit to the doctor or an accident in the street.
The competition opens on January 18 with three first prizes of £100 and two runner-up prizes of £50. The closing date is May 3, and all shortlisted and prize-winning films will be screened during a street festival in July.
