Camden Passage business rates are ‘too high’
A New Year campaign for a reduction in the business rates in Camden Passage has being launched by traders.
Chris Reen of art and antique shop Origin launched the campaign with a petition signed by more than 40 traders. Copies have been sent to Islington South and Finsbury MP Emily Thornberry, London Mayor Boris Johnson, and Islington Council.
Mr Reen said: “I’ve been here eight years and seen all the changes which for the antique trade have not always been good. Many of us are paying £6,000 in business rates on top of rents which can be more than £20,000 annually.”
