Education Feature - City of Westminster College: Something for everyone

Published: 25 August, 2011

CITY of Westminster College is enrolling for the new academic year, and you’ll find lots of exciting options – from short courses to A-levels and degrees.

With a convenient location close to Edgware Road Tube and Paddington rail, the college’s Paddington Green Campus has won two major architectural awards since it opened in January.

Superb facilities include science labs, engineering, construction and motor vehicle workshops, music, dance, drama and sports facilities, plus a fast wireless network and large Learning Resource Centre.

For students aged 16-18, options include a wide choice of A-levels and intensive (one-year) A-levels.

Working towards a BTEC National or Level 3 Diploma is a good alternative if you prefer a vocational focus. Studied over two years (and equivalent to three A-levels), Diplomas are available in areas such as art and design, engineering, IT, performing arts and sport science.

Courses for adults For students aged 19 plus who don’t have A-levels, Access to Higher Education Diploma is a one-year accredited course that prepares for university study.

It’s offered in business, humanities & social sciences, nursing, photography and science.

The college also offers foundation degrees in professional photography and financial services.

Fees are lower than a university and you can study full-time or part-time.

The college has also launched an exciting new range of short courses – for career building and for leisure.

These include book-keeping, design, drama, film-making, first aid, IT, photography. Dance / fitness classes include capoeira, pilates and Zumba.
