Education Feature: Highbury Fields School - Exam results to be proud of

Published: 19 September, 2011

THIS year has brought Highbury Fields School its best ever GCSE results.

Eighty per cent of Year 11 students gained five or more good grades (A*-C), 60 per cent of students gained five  grades A*-C including English and Maths, which represents an increase of 24 per cent since 2009.

There have been improvements in the pass rate at AS-level by Year 12 students and there was a 100 per cent rate at A-level for Year 13.

Coming along quickly behind these successful students are those students who will complete their GCSE courses in 2012 and are predicted to achieve at an even higher level.

One of the keys to these improvements at GCSE has been the way students have been motivated to work very hard  and the belief instilled that they can be successful.

The school community is proud that students recognise that hard work brings rewards.

This hard work meant that students of all abilities celebrated their results.

14 students achieved A*-B grades in all their subjects and 20 per cent of students achieved A* or A in both Maths and English.

Ofsted visited the school in 2009 and judged it to be Good (March 2009), but the ambition was always to be truly outstanding in all respects.

In addition to rapidly improving academic standards, Highbury Fields is proud of the high quality support that is provided for all students.

The school is small and every child is known, which makes it is easier for staff to step in with the right support or challenge when it is needed.

Highbury Fields is a truly inclusive school.

2011 has proved to be a very exciting year, and the staff and management look forward to the challenges and rewards 2012 may bring.
