Feature: The Lahd Gallery in Hampstead’s exhibition (until October 20)

Published: 22 September, 2011

With a particular resonance as the Arab Spring turns into a more long-term and bloody struggle is the Lahd Gallery in Hampstead’s exhibition (until October 20) showcasing the work of emerging artists – particularly women artists – from Middle Eastern countries. One example is Kuwaiti artist Shurooq Amin who shines a light into the secret world of the Gulf’s society girls – contrasting the glamour and embellishment of their surroundings with the danger of their circumstances.

Each image is shot with a bullet from a M16 sniper to highlight society’s murder of the girls’ sensuality and passion.
