Education Feature: Mary Ward Centre - New adult education centre opens in Holborn

New classroom at 10 Great Turnstile.

Published: 22 September, 2011

FROM Monday September 26, the popular Mary Ward Adult Education Centre will be offering courses from two sites in Holborn.

Principal Ceri Williams said: “We were bursting at the seams in our much-loved Georgian premises in Queen Square and so we are delighted to have been able to buy a second building in Great Turnstile.

“Unlike Queen Square, our new second building is modern but also a beautiful environment for adult learning.

“We have converted the lower ground floor to create a spacious studio with a sprung floor for dance and fitness classes, and on the upper floors we have three lovely airy classrooms with wonderful views of Lincoln’s Inn Gardens.

“We share the premises with Mary Ward Legal Centre which has already begun work there offering advice in employment, housing, welfare rights and debt.”

The Adult Education courses are filling up fast, but there are some places still available for classes starting next week at both Queen Square and Great Turnstile.

Courses available include Yoga, Tai Chi, Dance, Sculpture, Textiles, Painting and drawing.

They also offer courses in British Sign Language (BSL).

And there’s even a course for those of you finally getting around to sorting out all those photos on your computer.

• For more info see the Mary Ward Centre advert on this page for  details of courses with vacancies and enrol online at www.marywardcentre.ac.uk or call in at either site to reserve your place.
