WHAT Jamal and the crew at SBTV have achieved is incredible.

The young team have created a professional online broadcast channel that remains relevant, credible, respected in the industry and on a par with anything major music broadcasters with 10 times the funds are doing.

They are a credit to the good that can come from young minds.

• Here’s a little sunshine for the Kilburn side – Mat Morrisroe DJs soul, funk, electro-groove and disco tracks at The Priory Tavern (Aug 24). Entry free, dress code: Amazing!
• Pick up your invisible plectrum and pack up your imaginations, the UK Air Guitar Championships take place on August 20 at Relentless Garage, and the audience is allowed to join in. The winner will represent the UK at the World Championships in Finland.
• So, Red Hot Chili Peppers are playing an exclusive show in Koko (Sept 2) for Radio 1, their first UK show for four years. I saw them once in Manchester where the mighty rock band were swamped by the concrete atmosphere void that is the MEN Arena. Doubtless selecting lush Koko for their return was a wise choice.
• Anyone noticed Channel 5’s call to unsigned artists to send in tracks which may be used in trailers for their shows? It looks like a great opportunity for new bands to get exposure as these trailers are repeated ad infinitum and they do credit the bands for a few seconds on screen. But watch out for the smallprint ,which says Channel 5 reserves the right to use tunes “in perpetuity and
without further reference” to acts if it so chooses. Here’s the info http://about.channel5.com/send-us-your-music-campaign-terms-and-conditions
