Classical and Jazz: Preview - Regent's Park Events

IF you fancy a Sunday afternoon stroll in the park laced with some super jazz, then head for the Regent’s Park lakeside bandstand over the next four Sundays when musicians assembled by Chelsea’s famed 606 Club will be playing.

Award-winning saxophonist Derek Nash, leader of the successful Sax Appeal band, is at the first concert on Sunday afternoon.

Legendary jazz, gospel and R&B singer Lillian Boutte (pictured) takes to the bandstand on Sunday, July 24 with stunning guitarist Denny Ilett’s band. Swinging melodic jazz is promised on Sunday, July 31 from saxophonist Karen Sharp playing with guitarist Nigel Price’s trio.

Lastly, on Sunday August 7, six-piece jazz/latin group Samara led by the 606 Club’s Steve Rubie on flute and sax will feature Brazilian pianist Ugo Delmirani and Brazilian singer Jandira Silva.

• Start-time for the jazz concerts is 2.30pm, earlier than the usual 3pm start-time for brass band concerts; 5pm finish.
