THOUSANDS of activists will attend a series of meetings in Bloomsbury this weekend for Marxism – the largest left-wing gathering in Britain.

The annual Festival of Resistance has more than 200 meetings over five days
until July 5.

Among the main draws is Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek, who will discuss a socialist alternative to modern day capitalism, West End Actor and director Sam West on the theatre and ideology, and Irish journalist Eamon McCann on The Bloody Sunday Inquiry on Saturday.

Also speaking are feminist Sheila Rowbotham, human rights lawyer Gareth Peirce, children's author Michael Rosen, commentators Tariq Ali, Tony Benn and Gary Younge.

Closer to home, Camden Keep Our NHS Public chairwoman Candy Udwin and Whittington radiologist Dr Jackie Davis will hold a meeting on privatisation in the health service.

Islington MP Jeremy Corbyn will discuss the Left in Latin America and Paul Brandon, union rep at Holloway bus garage, will reveal his alternative vision for London.

So comrades, come rally.
