FROM abstract work to figurative drawings, art responding to the wide theme of “Life” will be on display as part of the Free Painters and Sculptors (FPS) Summer Show at the Framer’s Gallery near Tottenham Court Road from Monday.

Established in 1952, the group continues to go from strength to strength. Originally associated with the ICA, FPS artists are devoted to freedom of expression and have shown impressive talents through the years – as illustrated by the fact that their work has been obtained by several major institutions including Tate Modern.

In recent years exhibitions have been held at Bankside, Osterley House, Lauderdale House and Foyles Gallery. The group holds two exhibitions a year to showcase current work and welcomes applications for membership from talented artists. One of the pieces on display, Her Garden (pictured above) by multi award-winning Polish artist Mariusz Kaldowski, combines the artist’s fine draughtsmanship with a collage of dreamlike elements. Kaldowski has worked as an artist-in-residence in Regent’s Park and works with a variety of media to create landscapes, portraits, compositions and city scene drawings and paintings.
