HANDMADE ceramics, textiles and jewellery will be available at affordable prices at a summer art show at Hampstead’s Burgh House this bank holiday Monday.

Designers will be exhibiting from businesses based in Holborn’s Cockpit Arts, a so-called incubator scheme where jewellery makers who are starting out can rent studio space at subsidised prices. Teri Howes, who makes intricate pieces using a sewing technique, will be among the exhibitors.

She said: “I work on the boundary between traditional jewellery and textiles by using a specialist technique to fashion silver into a very fine wire, the consistency of cotton or thread. People often say my work looks like lace filigree [a kind of Indian jewel work].”

Burgh House Art and Craft Fair. Monday May 31, 11am-5pm. Entrance is free. Burgh House, New End Square, NW3.
