Feature: Exhibtion - THE BIG PICTURE - mouth-painting artist Keith Jansz
Published: 13 May 2010
KEITH Jansz is a world- famous mouth-painting artist. He is a member of the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists group and has recently returned from an exhibition in Mexico. His paintings are full of light and colour. In his own words: “I love to feel my brush dance across the canvass and give back to me the sensation of movement which my body now lacks. It is difficult to express the importance of painting in my life, because it affects everything I see, feel and do – I can’t escape it, and have no desire to.”
Keith’s works include landscapes, cityscapes and still life. His paintings of London and Venice landmarks are particularly sought-after.
As a student he excelled at sports and in 1995 he completed the London Marathon two months before a car accident which broke his neck.
No longer able to play football or run a marathon, and following a gruelling, dark recovery period, he turned to painting – with his mouth.
Keith was born in Paddington in 1961 and now lives in Oxfordshire with his wife Cindy, and their dogs. He contacted Camden-based solicitors Hodge Jones & Allen LLP on learning that the firm is supporting Spinal Injuries Association as the charity of the year. A date was organised to coincide with Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week (May 16-21).
• Keith Jansz will be at Hodge Jones & Allen’s office, 180 North Gower Street, exhibiting a selection of his latest work on Wednesday May 19, from 6-8pm.
