BREAKDANCERS spun on their heads and DJs spun discs at a street party celebration of Fitzrovia’s youth on Saturday.

Hot meals were dished up by youngsters at the Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA) event on the Warren five-a-side football pitch.

FYA director Andre Schott said: “The young people who hang out here organised this.

They’ve been setting up since 11am and all the acts are performed by them. It’s a great opportunity to get young people and residents together, especially after all that’s been happening over the past few weeks.”

Dan Harris, 19, performed at the event with his band, Ivan’s House.

He said: “We do have a song called the London Song. Not very original but I wrote the lyrics: ‘No matter who you are or where you come from, the city can save you if you give it a chance’.”
