WITH two stages of live acts and a carnival-style sound system to boot, the 25th anniversary street party for the Castlehaven Community Centre in Camden Town brought hundreds of neighbours together, writes Dan Carrier.
Celebrating their silver jubilee, acts from the centre’s youth services showed their lyrical and musical talents off, while stalls showcased the culinary skills of members of the centre’s cooking courses. The attractions included a climbing wall, giant video games and even a fake beach, complete with sand, palm trees and non-alcoholic cocktails. The event included DJs from the Dig It Sound System and was supported by pressure group Unite Against Fascism and Love Music, Hate Racism.
Centre director Eleanor Botwright said: “It was thrilling to see so many show up and to watch the brilliant talents of the young people who come here.”
