Diners flee blaze at restaurant

DINERS were forced to flee when a blaze broke out in the kitchen of a Swiss Cottage restaurant.
The cause of the fire at the Arabesque restaurant in Winchester Road on Thursday afternoon is being investigated.
It spread to three flats above forcing the building to be evacuated. Forty firefighters battled the flames.
Adrian Lacrette, of Danico Brass, which is just a few doors away, described how he and his colleagues were inside the shop when they noticed the smell of smoke.
He said: “At first it was surprising – we were sitting around and were like, ‘We can smell something burning.’ Then we all realised people were gathering and that’s when we went out.”
The restaurant, which is just a few doors away from the youth club the Winchester Project and the Swiss Cottage Community Centre, was closed when the New Journal visited on Tuesday.
