Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 3 December 2009

Time to provide addicts with heroin and stop the whining

• LET’S tell the politicians to stop messing around with “The War on Drugs” and needle exchanges (No needle exchange here, please, Letters November 19)
Just attach the facility plus the provision of heroin etcetera to addicts (and treatment centres), to hospitals and suitable doctors’ surgeries.
And furthermore, tell your respective MPs to organise a study tour of all the many countries who have now won “The War on Drugs” through decriminalisation and by the state supplying addicts with their “medication” at the true cost per gram (pennies) so that all the drug gangs and associated serious and petty crime that goes on in our city because of the high street price, will cease.
If many other countries can do this successfully then why can’t we?
This is not a moral issue but rather a social and medical issue.
So let’s just get on with it instead of the constant whine about the siting of half-baked facilities!
