Saints’ day: Three in London finals action

A TOUGH trio from St Pancras Amateur Boxing Club will be in action tonight (Thursday) in the grand finals of the London Senior Novice Championships.
Middleweights Ady Nkalonatia and Mourad Boudjemaa, along with welterweight Kian Thomas, will all be looking to hit top spot for the Kentish Town-based gym when they step between the ropes at Hayes Workingmen’s Club.
Ady booked his place in the ‘A’ Class final with two explosive performances last Wednesday. First the talented 21-year-old stopped Craig Edwards with a series of powerful body shots, before overcoming Sam Piasecki in his second fight. Ady used his dangerous left hook to maximum effect in his second outing, which resulted in the referee calling a halt to the action after opponent Piasecki sustained a deep cut over his right eye.
Team-mate Mourad, 29, also put in two impressive displays to secure a place in the ‘B’ Class final. He gained a unanimous points win over Alex Kolesnikow in his first fight – knocking his opponent to the canvas in the third round. Then in the semi-final he stopped Johnny Birtalan in the second round with a combination of explosive shots.
Kian Thomas will complete the Saints’ final line-up after being awarded a bye in the welterweight division. The only disappointing result for St Pancras saw Ossie Jervier controversially lose on points in his cruiserweight contest against Thomas Borzyka.
