Breaking the ice: Peel’s Cup victory over Surreal Madrid clinched their first win of the season
Peel hit six to clinch a first win

Cup kick-off sees a staggering 57 goals in the fight for our prestigious trophy

THERE was a staggering 57 goals in the opening round of our Camden Sunday League Challenge Cup at the weekend.
Among the highlights at Hackney Marshes was Sir Robert Peel’s win over the Surreal Madrid ‘D’ team.
Peel have failed to record a win in their opening three league games this season, so the prestigious trophy came as a welcomed distraction.
Dave Dawson headed the Division One side into an early lead before captain Troy Ryan chipped in with two quick-fire goals to give Peel a 3-0 lead at the break and effectively end the game as a contest.
Elvyn Blackwood added a fourth from close range, and goal number five wasn’t far behind as Tony Dowsett won and scored a penalty to mark his debut in style.
Division Three strugglers Surreal Madrid pulled a goal back, but super sub Aron Kennedy came off the bench to round off an impressive
6-1 victory for Peel.
The biggest win of the round belonged to Division One champions Reddot, who smashed 10 goals past the Surreal Madrid first team.
Man-of-the-match Liam Barnabie bagged a brace and set up four goals, while Jason Medford also scored twice.
Second-half sub Luke Bernard-Morgan came off the bench to hit a hat-trick, while Paul Reid, Aaron Clarke and Emanuel Hanson were also all on target.
There was also a big win for Phoenix, who eased past Division Two opponents Mayville 8-1.
Leading scorer Anthony Clark was in unstoppable form again with stunning
hat-trick, while strike partner Michael Patrick scored twice. Jake King, Justin Pryle and Kevin Duffy completed a routine win.
