Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 5 November 2009

Hate crime

• ON Friday, I joined thousands of people at a vigil in Trafalgar Square against hate crime.
This followed the appalling fatal attack on Ian Baynham, a gay civil servant, in the square.
The laws on equality have changed for the better in Britain over the last decade.
Here in Camden, the police and the council take homophobic crime very seriously. Too often it goes unreported. I urge any victim in Camden to call Camden’s hate crime police unit on 020 8733 5665, or Homophobic Harassment Hotline on 0800 328 2509 for non-police reporting.
Cllr James King
Executive Member
Community Safety
