Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 5 November 2009

Drug scare stories

• I AM shocked to learn about the scaremongering about a proposed new drug treatment centre for south Camden.
The scaremongering comes from councillors in the area, with the Conservatives including photos of needles that will be coming to a leafy street near you in their leaflets. But it also comes from the New Journal itself, with your sensationalist headlines about fears that a “hard-drug superclinic” will be a new “magnet for pushers and muggers with junkies discarding needles in the street”.
The truth is, without good drug treatment services, there will indeed be needles in the street and drug-related crime, precisely because users cannot get the help they need.
