Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 October 2009

Cities must prepare for plan bee

• A CRISIS known as Colony Collapse Disorder has affected beekeepers around the globe, with some reporting losses of more than 90 percent of their colonies.
Bees are responsible for pollinating one third of the food we eat, so it is vital we reverse this alarming trend. While scientists and beekeepers struggle to solve the problem in the countryside, city dwellers may be charged with keeping bees alive. That’s why we need to install beehives in London. Putting them on the roof of Camden Town Hall would be a great start.
Cllr Alexis Rowell
Camden Eco Champion

• The Everyman Belsize Park and Transition Belsize are screening the film Vanishing of the Bees on November 29 at 3pm, plus talk with local beekeepers.
