Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 15 October 2009

Your cash is wasted

• CAMDEN Council appears to be in financial trouble and may have to pare down its services in consequence.
But there seems to be one such service that is sacrosanct: the magazine Your Camden.
Camden Council, as John Gulliver pointed out (July 30), “is spending nearly £200,000 a year of our money to produce a publication of dubious worth.” Your Camden, said Gulliver, “is delivered to 105,000 letterboxes in the borough”.
But, as far as I can tell, no one reads its mixture of bureaucratic notices and apparently free plugs for certain local business. It is a costly waste of paper.
Why not scrap it and use the £200,000 it costs for worthwhile services – such as libraries?
