London Blitz
BritBowl triumph for Blitz

BritBowl XXIII in Doncaster
Blitz 26, Coventry Jets 7

THE London Blitz regained the Boston Trophy on Sunday with a dominant 26-7 victory over the Coventry Jets at BritBowl XXIII.
Held at Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, the Finsbury Park-based side opened up a narrow 9-7 lead at half time courtesy of a touchdown from Michael Casper and a Nathan Holt field goal. The Blitz came into their own in the third quarter, extending their lead through touchdowns from defensive back Martin Ray and running back Gareth Dauley (pictured left), who was named the games Most Valuable Player.
Cheered on by their fans, the Blitz defence nullified the Jets offence to avenge their loss in BritBowl XXII.
After the game, head coach Mark Moss said: “Players vowed that they would come back, work hard and win the championship and they did.
“After the tragic passing of Dan “Raiders” Dawson, it was also important for me and a lot of the players to win the game for him and we did.”
