Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 October 2009

Why we have to support the caretakers

• I AM very worried about the consequences if Camden make their proposed huge cuts within their caretaking staff.
I know there are some who don’t have the great partnership as I do on the Clarence Way estate, but to make cuts and give away the contract to a company of cleaners is not the answer. I would be lost without the hard and diligent work that is done by the caretakers.
I have thought about this and have decided to support the caretakers in every way I can, which means I will march with them if they strike and I will withhold my rent if that’s what it takes. I’ve been told what the cleaners will and won’t do and this is frightening because I do enough no without getting paid for it and it seems to me that now Camden want me to do even more?
Support your caretakers. We need them to keep their jobs.
