Urgent

• WELL done Camden Council for signing-up to cut its own carbon emissions by 10 per cent as soon as 2010 (‘We’ve taken first few steps on the road to saving the planet,’ September 17)
Faced with the dire threats posed by climate change the council has at last shown a sense of urgency comparable to that of 70 years ago when the home front was put on a war footing.
