Tube accident waiting to happen
• I AGREE with much of your report about the state of disrepair of Camden Town Tube station (New Journal, September 10).
Parents with pushchairs and the elderly have problems negotiating the entrances to the station and often have to use Mornington Crescent or Chalk Farm stations.
What’s more, it’s only a matter of time before someone else slips, falls and breaks a bone down the stairs given the out-of-action escalators.
Can we really allow this what with half a million people visiting Camden markets every single week and with the Olympics and Paralympics not so far away? I hope not.
Just before the end of summer I met the transport minister, Sadiq Khan, to tell him about this.
He promised me that he will raise the issue with the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Transport for London.
I know that Councillor Pat Callaghan has raised this issue and has written to him since.
But as a concerned resident, I would like to know what the current Liberal Democrat/ Conservative coalition are doing about about this terrible situation.
And have they spoken to Transport for London?
For those of us who use the station every day it’s important that we know.
