Clarke treble gets Phoenix Reddot ready

STRIKER Anthony Clarke scored an opening day hat-trick as Phoenix cruised to a convincing victory over Sir Robert Peel in Division One of the Camden Sunday League.
Clarke, who joined from rivals Reddot over the summer, made the most of assists from Anthony Wright and Jamie King before completing his treble from the penalty spot.
Strike partner Wright opened the scoring with a magnificent 25-yard free-kick. Peel equalised, but Phoenix edged back in front when Michael Patrick scored from close range. Man-of-the-match Jake King also scored twice as Phoenix fired a warning to their rivals with a 7-2 victory.
Afterwards manager Dave Harbour, who will miss this weekend’s titanic clash against Reddot after knee surgery, said: “I wish the boys all the best for Sunday. With the players we’ve got hopefully we can get a good result.”
Elsewhere Division Two newcomers Mostyn FC netted the biggest win of the weekend with an 11-1 victory over Kings Hell Cats.
In Division Two debutants Park City Rovers beat FC Bertoli 3-2 thanks to a double strike from Steve Stavrou and an Eloy Prieto goal.
