Railing against closures Petition to stop weekend line disruptions

WEST Hampstead traders are fighting back against rail closures after collecting hundreds of signatures in the opening weekend of their petition.
The West Hampstead Small Business and Residents Association say they have scored more than 300 signatures from residents and colleagues who are concerned, like them, about the Tube and Overground closures on the weekends.
Jitendra Thakorlal, chairman of the business group, said the Jubilee and Metropolitan line closures were crippling profits and were often unnecessary.
“We understand from the workers working on the upgrade that a lot of the time the necessity to close all the stations is not there,” said Mr Thakorlal.
He planned to present the petition to either London Mayor Boris Johnson or Transport Minister Andrew Adonis at the end of September.
