Blitz hammer the champs

THE London Blitz American Football team won their seventh straight game on Sunday by beating national champions the Coventry Jets 32-0, writes Gerald Williamson.
The Finsbury Park based club were up by 23 points at half-time after a safety and touchdowns from defensive back Dion Andrade, running back Gareth Dauley and fullback Jon Chilton.
Fellow running back Oliver Bishop rounded off the scoring with kicker Nathan Holt putting in a flawless display converting the extra points.
London Blitz head coach Mark Moss was delighted by the manner in which his side defeated the British American Football League and national champions.
He said after the game: “It was a good performance. On both sides of the ball, we really worked hard and it was a good result.”
Quarterback Fred Boyle added: “We’re taking it one game at a time. We can’t start preparing for the BritBowl until we’ve played the next two games.
“We’ll continue to get our heads down in training and work hard.”
The Blitz return to acton on Sunday August 16, when they face rivals Farnham Knights at Finsbury Park.
