Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 6 August 2009

Priorities

• ON the same day that I read in the New Journal that Camden had reduced its funding for homelessness, our building received the delivery of six plastic food recycling bins.
I presume initiative is an attempt to decrease CO2 emissions. Laudable this may be, but it is hard to believe there is any CO2 reduction at all if that emitted in the manufacture, distribution and collection of the bins is included. The thought of a homeless person going without shelter so that I can put a few teabags in a plastic bin in a largely futile attempt to reduce greenhouse gases is shameful.
DECLAN O'BRIEN, NW5
