Former NHS boss gets job at hospital
THE health service boardroom merry-go-round had another spin this week when former NHS Camden chief executive Rob Larkman landed the top job at the Whittington Hospital in Highgate.
The former advertising consultant takes the place of David Sloman, who is replacing Andrew Way on £180,000 a year at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, on September 14.
Mr Larkman, whose annual salary will be £145,000, said: “Having worked in the area for many years, I know that the Whittington is an excellent organisation with terrific staff and is held in high regard by the patients and local community it serves. I look forward to taking it to the next stage of its successful development.”
Mr Larkman will be seeking funds from his old colleagues at NHS Camden in a new landscape likely to be hit by funding cuts in the recession. A Whittington spokeswoman said the hospital was hoping Mr Larkman would bring his “strong working relationships with him” to the boardroom.
Chairman Joe Liddane added: “He brings key strengths to the leadership here at the Whittington which will ensure we are in a strong position in the future, building on our reputation as the hospital of choice for local people. Rob is a great NHS leader who is an excellent appointment.’’ |
