Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 30 July 2009

Many have fought for Town Green

• IT has been a long fight over these past two years to secure a Town Green status for Talacre Gardens.
Many people have worked hard to save the park. Our councillors have been very supportive. Always, though, there seemed to be a resistance on the part of Camden officers and executive to residents’ wishing to protect their open space.
So the July 22 executive was nothing short of a miracle. That is when the boundaries of the Town Green were determined. The threat was that they would only grant protection to a small portion of the park – a gesture. Even Conservative leader Cllr Andrew Marshall, who has been a vocal opponent of Town Green, conceded that the generous boundaries were appropriate. May local residents continue to love and cherish their park. It is safe and it is theirs forever.
