Mighty craic! From traditional music to Tai Chi, community festival is poetry in motion
CHEERLEADER, Irish bands, Gaelic football, Tai Chi and a jazz pianist made the Camden New Town Community Festival at a hit over the weekend.
There was music throughout both days from a variety of bands including The Northern Celts, Woodstock, The Mighty Caretakers and Bahareque Latin Rhythms.
Among the stalls was The Green Corner, with Doctor Bike’s surgery, Gardener’s Question Time and a sewing machine workshop. The Healthy Living Area provided massages and health advice and younger festival-goers enjoyed art workshops, face-painting and a performance by The Mighty Maidens cheerleading team. On Saturday evening, there were recitals from local poets as well as children from Camden School For Girls, followed by performances from skiffle and jazz musicians. |
