St George schoolchildren had a great time planting their own gardens |
Dig into past: Pupils’ Georgian gardening
CHILDREN took a step back in time to get to grips with gardening, Georgian-style.
Youngsters from St George the Martyr Primary School in Bloomsbury, stepped into the
18th-century timewarp to mark their school’s 300th anniversary celebrations.
They learned about the Georgians’ love of symmetry, visiting the Privy Garden at Hampton Court Palace as well getting a lesson from historians at the Foundling Museum.
Headteacher Amanda Szewczyk-Radley said: “They had a great time getting their hands dirty and planting up their own gardens, and the experience has really brought history to life for all of them.” |
