‘Shaken’ minicab driver is carjacked at gunpoint

A MINICAB driver was carjacked at gunpoint by two men who stole and set fire to his taxi in Dartmouth Park on Thursday.
The 63-year-old driver from Fleet Cars answered a call to a fare in Dartmouth Park Avenue at around midnight but was ambushed by by the pair, who threatened him with a pistol and punched him to the ground.
After his attackers stole his keys and cash, the cab driver escaped, but his silver Skoda estate was stolen.
Police later found the car on fire in Dartmouth Park Hill where it had been abandoned.
The two men are described as aged around 20 and “very bad drivers”.
Colleagues of the minicab driver, who walked back to his office to call police after the attack, said he had been “badly shaken” and is yet to return to work, but added that the experience was “extremely rare”.
Police have recovered the minicab for forensic investigation and have asked any witnesses to the attack to call 020 7404 1212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
