Such a smoothie: Frank rides a bike to generate enough power to blend a fruit drink
Such a smoothie: Frank rides a bike to generate enough power to blend a fruit drink
Know what I mean, Harry? Big Frank visits his old training patch to offer tips on healthy living

HIS glory days as a world heavyweight boxing champion are over, but Frank Bruno remains a fierce competitor – at computer tennis, at least.
The former boxing sensation took time out from signing autographs and posing for photos in the Camden Centre on Monday to have a go on the Nintendo Wii. He was promoting a “healthy living fair”, organised by Camden and Islington Foundation Trust, which commissions mental health services.
Popular Bruno – who has been diagnosed with the bipolar psychiatric disorder in 2003 – cracked jokes and did his pantomime deep-voice laugh, before revealing to fans his secrets for keeping fit.
“It is really important that you look after yourself,” he said.
“If you just invest one hour in yourself every day it can make all the difference. You can go walking or do some exercise in the house. Lift up an iron or something – hold it above your head a few times.”
He added: “I go out riding my three mountain bikes round the streets – it’s nothing too scientific.”
Bruno used to be a familiar face on Hampstead Heath where he trained, and was a regular at the San Siro café in Parliament Hill when his trainer George Francis lived.
Bruno added: “I keep my self busy. I like cooking, hoovering and gardening – nothing too strenuous. When you’re a bachelor it’s easy to be a modern man.”
Meeme Luks, a service-user consultant, said: “The event was great to help de-stigmatise mental health. It was a happy occasion and wonderful to see Frank Bruno.”
