School of dreams: Famous faces open college’s new campus

THE minister for further education has officially opened Westminster Kingsway College’s new £52.5 million campus in King’s Cross.
Kevin Brennan MP was joined by “Reggae Reggae” sauce pioneer Levi Roots, chef Ainsley Harriot, Mamma Mia star Johnny Ball and builder Tommy Walsh during a series of events throughout the week.
The new campus in Gray’s Inn Road, funded by the Learning Skills Council and the Government, has been four years in the making.
Andy Wilson, Principal of Westminster Kingsway College, said:
“We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to create, from a blank piece of paper, the college we had always wanted to teach in, a building that acts as a magnet and draws people in from the outside, inviting them to be part of the learning experience we provide.”
The modern building – which will have courses specialising in science, health and social care, art and design and performing arts – boasts a state of the art 170 seater theatre.
Mr Brennan said: “This is a great example of an innovative regeneration project, which will benefit students, staff and the surrounding community alike.”
