London Youth Games: Fiesta of sporting thrills as rising stars showcase talents

OLYMPIC hopefuls and future sporting stars donned their Camden colours this week when they turned out in force for the London Youth Games.
Youngsters have been showing off their skills in 30 different sports, ranging from athletics and angling, to indoor rowing and weightlifting.
The fencing team (pictured above) helped get the Camden medal count started thanks to the efforts of Soji Aiyenuro, Artur Mundil and Daisy Mann-Peet, who beat rivals Ealing on the way to securing a team bronze.
Camden celebrated a second team bronze in the boys’ artistic gymnastics competition after Hugo Bennetts, Theo Gayle, Issa Francois, Joel Leon Benitez and Oliver Hillier all impressed the judges with their routines.
There was further glory for Oliver, who returned home with an individual bronze following a strong performance on the high bar.
The boys, who all train at Camden Gymnastics Club with coaches Alex Pakrah, Steve Russo and Ivan Pastore, also met up with club-mate Dominic Sesto at the tournament, who was representing Barnet.
Talented trio Jennifer Tang, Helena Roberts and Artemis Saddington helped Camden earn a respectable 17th place finish out of the 33 London boroughs in the girls’ artistic competition.
Jennifer and Artemis were back in action at the weekend when they won a silver medal and a fourth place ribbon respectively at the Regional Championships in Heathrow.
