Kebab licence rejected
LICENSING chiefs heeded a police warning not to grant a late licence to a kebab shop in Camden Town after hearing a worker had been arrested following an assault.
First Choice in Kentish Town Road, Camden Town, were told last Wednesday of the Town Hall’s decision not to allow them an extra hour’s opening on Fridays and Saturdays – extending their closing time to 5am.
Their application was turned down after PC Gerry McCann told the committee that the management had been “less than co-operative with criminal investigations” after a number of assaults including knife attacks, on the premises.
Police licensing chief Bob Dear repeated warnings that issuing licences to takeaways and kebab shops would breed violence.
After KFC on Camden Town High Street regained its late licence last week, Sgt Dear predicted anti-social behaviour would increase. |
