Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 18 June 2009

No privatising the NHS

• IT was inspiring that 120-plus people took the time last week to attend a public meeting to express their opposition to the privatisation of the NHS in Camden.
The message to NHS Camden was clear: the existing GP surgeries and their staff are highly valued, and a new privatised facility is not what is needed. Healthcare works best when it is rooted in the local community. No centralised impersonal clinic could replace the GPs. The extra government cash already allocated should go into enhancing and developing existing GP services, and into preventive measures to address the poor health in the south of Camden.
