A real royal high: Coram Foundation’s anniversary visit

THE Queen and Prince Philip paid a visit to the Thomas Coram Foundation in Bloomsbury on Friday.
The Royal occasion was to mark the 270th birthday of the children’s charity – established by the seafaring skipper Coram. Coram was so disgusted by the treatment young waifs and strays received on the streets of London he established the Foundling Hospital to look after orphans.
Her Royal Highness and Prince Philip met staff and people who visit Corams.
Accompanied by Camden mayor Faruque Ansari, the royal party were entertained by a choir from the centre sing Handel’s Hallelujah.
Handel was a long term benefactor of the foundation, pledging profits from concerts.
