Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 11 June 2009

Way to beat the crunch

• OVER several months you have carried much information regarding the credit crunch and difficulties faced by many local people.
I have been shocked to read about the resurgence of high-cost lenders such as pawnbrokers, hire purchase and payday loans, not to mention loan sharks who prey on the most vulnerable.
Readers should be aware of the genuine options that exist. For example, I was delighted to see the recent opening of a credit union branch in Camden.
Any local resident looking for a place to access affordable finance should get in touch with them. The credit union is a reassurance. I save whenever I like and, should I ever need to access credit, I know I will not have to resort to the sources which cost the earth.
A visit to their office in Royal College Street might be the most important action that a Camden resident can take this year.
Frances Eley, Ainsworth Way, NW8
