Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 28 May 2009

Look again at recycling

• WE hear many exhortations to recycle, in view of the fears of global warming.
I wish that call was better heeded by some of my neighbours. Living near a bus stop with a council rubbish bin close by, I see not just the odd newspaper dumped in the bin, but whole bags full. One person regularly dumps a collection of Daily Mails and Mail on Sundays (admittedly the bin might be seen as appropriate) and today it was the turn of the Observer – with all its supplements. We know the problem in central London with free-sheets dumped everywhere on buses, trains, pavements and bins.
What can be done about this flow of papers which fill incinerators and landfill sites without even the blessing of re-cycling?
