Primrose Hill Primary School celebrate winning the CSSA Tag Rugby Championships

Spills and thrills in trophy extravaganza

YOUNGSTERS became gripped in a sporting extravaganza when they took part in two major competitions organised by the Camden Schools Sports Association (CSSA).
On Thursday primary schools from across the borough battled it out at Parliament Hill Fields in the Tag Rugby Championships.
Run in conjunction with the Camden School Sport Partnership and the Rugby Football Union, the annual tournament proved a huge success as children got the chance to enjoy a modified non-contact version of the game.
Boys and girls from Primrose Hill Primary School in Princess Road, Regent’s Park, were jumping for joy after they beat New End Primary School 9-6 in a thrilling final to be crowned 2009 champions.
Carlton Primary School in Kentish Town were presented with the Fair Play Award for showing impeccable behaviour to their team-mates, opponents and the officials throughout the day.
Meanwhile on Tuesday budding soccer stars from 20 schools turned out for the CSSA Year 3 and 4 Football Championships, which were also held at Parliament Hill Fields.
After two days of intense action,
St Paul’s Primary School in Elsworthy Road, Primrose Hill, beat New End 1-0 to clinch the girls’ winners trophy.
Meanwhile St Dominic’s School in Southampton Road, Gospel Oak, lifted the boys’ title after beating Rosary School 2-1 in a nail-biting final.
