Robbers grab store cash in third raid
SECURITY guards delivering cash to a Camden Town supermarket were targeted by robbers for the third time in two months on Tuesday morning.
A cash delivery by security firm Loomis to Sainsbury’s supermarket in Camden Road was intercepted at 11.43am.
Witnesses said a green saloon car slewed in front of the security van, a man got out, gave the guard carrying the cash box a light push and took the money. The robbers escaped at high speed towards Islington.
Security staff at Sainsbury’s would not comment on the value of the haul, but it is understood the store’s cash deliveries are normally of amounts between £10,000 and £40,000. The Flying Squad is investigating.
The supermarket and security firm have been hit by cash-in-transit robberies three times this year. A raid in April ended in dramatic fashion when two suspected robbers in a convertible Mercedes getaway car were driven off the road by a have-a-go hero removals man. |
