New kit’s on the block: Haverstock teams fashion a basketball double

DOUBLE winners from Haverstock School in Chalk Farm celebrated their trophy triumph in the Camden Secondary Schools Basketball League by unveiling a new kit.
They will sport a jazzy yellow strip next time they take to the court after being sponsored by Kajima, the construction company also responsible for helping to expand the school.
After months of testing league fixtures, the boys’ under-14s and under-16s teams both won a spot in the grand finals at the Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre.
Kieron Matthews, 13, helped lead Haverstock to thrilling 38-34 points victory over Acland Burghley School in the under-14s competition.
In the under-16s tourney, Kwadwo Boadu, who was voted Most Valuable Player, was in outstanding form as Haverstock once again beat Burghley, this time 19-16.
There was a special mention for 14-year-olds Khalid Ibrahim and Rainier Manzano Infante, who represented Haverstock in both age categories.
Coach Joe Allen said: “It’s the first time that the school has won the double, and that is down to all the hard work that the boys put in as a team. I’m proud of all the players.”
