Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 30 April 2009

A one-hour pass, please

• I HAVE launched a campaign to persuade the Mayor of London Boris Johnson to introduce one-hour bus tickets in London.
Similar schemes successfully operate in many other cities including Paris, Rome and Brussels.
It really is time London caught up.
At the moment you can switch between Tube lines on the same ticket.  However, if you switch buses you face being charged twice using Oyster pay-as-you-go. That’s not fair and needs to change.
One-hour bus tickets would make bus travel very attractive to people who often don’t think of travelling by bus. The tickets could even lead to people using their cars less, especially for short trips to and from the local shops, or for getting to those places where there is no direct bus route.
Please help persuade the mayor to give us a fair deal on the buses by signing the petition at: www.ourcampaign.org.uk/1hourbusticket
