Three red cards as Eagles edge battle of Perivale

West End League Cup
Eagles 2, Primrose Hill 1

THE Eagles banished memories of last season’s cup final defeat by etching their name into the history books of amateur football on Saturday with a battling performance against local rivals Primrose Hill.
Goals from Kentish Town striker Kris Culley and Islington’s Aaron Fullarton sealed the 2-1 win in the West End League Cup final, which was held at Hanwell Town FC in Perivale.
Culley ghosted in at the back post on 42 minutes to meet a cross from brother Kalem, and finish a classy counter-attack that began with keeper Steve Bettison.
The match was nearly abandoned after violence broke out in the second-half, with one player storming on to the pitch brandishing a corner flag in a frantic melee that resulted in three players being sent off.
With the result still hanging in the balance, Fullarton scored what proved to be the winner 15 minutes from time with a clever looping shot, before Primrose netted from a free-kick to grab a late consolation.
The coveted shield was presented on the pitch and replica gold medals were handed out to the Eagles heroes, who secured the first-ever trophy for the club since it was formed eight years ago.
