Winger Kenny Loakman left the Finchley defence in his wake
Titanic victory: Rampant Hampstead run riot in 53-points win

London Three North-West

Hampstead 53, Finchley 0

CAPTAIN Dai Jenkins led Hampstead to one of their biggest wins of the season on Saturday in a one-sided encounter against rivals Finchley.
In the club’s penultimate league game, it took Jenkins just three minutes to get on the score-sheet when he added the finishing touches to a clever attacking play to score a try.
Dave Mold missed the resulting conversion, but minutes later the player made amends when he fired home a penalty kick.
Hampstead continued to push forward and increased their lead when Alex Smyth eased over the line to score a try, which led to another successful kick from Mold.
The two players soon combined again to heap more misery on Finchley, with Smyth scoring his second try of the afternoon and Mold again converting.
Although the game lacked any fluidity, Hampstead continued to apply all the pressure and put the finishing touches on a commanding first-half performance when winger Ben Fehnert scored try four of the game.
Mold had clearly found his range and comfortably kicked home the extra points to give Hampstead a resounding 29-0 lead at the break.
The home side continued to dominate in the second-half, with hooker Ben Martyr and full-back Rob Craigs both crossing the line to score. Mold added both the resulting conversions before passing the kicking duties onto a team-mate.
There was still time for Smyth to score a pushover try and complete his hat-trick, before Fehnert wrapped up a magnificent team performance with his second try of the day.
Despite missing their final two conversions, Hampstead still managed to record a titanic 53-0 victory.
Club coach Ali Halsall said after the game: “What a superb result. We made sure we got the win, that was first and foremost.
“Our defence was excellent and we will take confidence by not conceding any points. We dominated the game.”
