Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 2 April 2009

Not enough training

• I VISITED the accident and emergency department at the Royal Free Hospital on Friday March 20. I was shocked at what a member of staff was telling me about her training.
She said she had been working in A&E for two years and another member of staff had shown her how to take blood and do dressings and plastering.
I said that it must take a long time to learn but she said no, just half a day.
Surely somebody is looking out for the problems that can come from not being trained. Nurses spend years training to save people’s lives and to know the body. Setting people’s bones in plaster needs to be done right and not just by anybody
